The Party Starts After Eight cake

I received an e-mail from YC not too long ago, saying:

Hi,

I've stumbled upon your website by chance and I love your After Eight cupcakes. Could you possibly make them into a 1/2kg birthday cake instead? Cos' i would like to order one for the 20th Oct.

Looking forward to your reply.

I'd never done the After Eight cupcake flavor as a cake before, but never one to turn down a challenge, I said why not?

And I managed to borrow a camera to take pictures too! Unfortunately I couldn't cut the cake open but it would look really pretty as there's layers of rich chocolate cake sandwiched with mint buttercream frosting. The entire cake is also covered with mint chocolate ganache made from fresh cream - which makes for a decadent treat but with a touch of sophistication. =)

So did I rise to the challenge? You be the judge. =)



Prices:
A 7-inch cake goes for RM 35;
An 8-inch cake for RM 45;
And a 10-inch cake for RM 55

Our most popular flavor, After Eight, is back as I have found another supplier who stocks the mint extract needed for the recipe. =)

Updates: September 2008

I'm back! My apologies for the lack of updates. This baker has been busy juggling her studies and another job while searching for cupcake inspiration.

Sometimes, inspiration can be found in 'accidents'. Like today, when I lost the cupcake recipe I’d been using today and tried to extract it from my memory. I guess I rounded some measurements up and others down, because it didn’t exactly come out the same - it came out even softer and fluffier=) So I can finally say I’ve created my own signature recipe! Top secret, of course. *wink*

Also, I've been experimenting with rum in my cupcakes and although it's not an officially launched flavor as I haven't done a photoshoot and all that stuff, you can order our Rum 'N' Raisin cupcakes. =) Now isn't that good news?

On a sadder note, the After Eight chocolate mint cupcake flavor is temporarily not available for order until further notice as my bakery supply shops have stopped selling mint extract. However, more new flavors will be out soon, so subscribe to this blog to be alerted of when! =)
